George Caleb Bingham

George Caleb Bingham was Virginia-born American painter who depicted life in Missouri where he made his home in early adulthood during the years before the outbreak of the American Civil War. Bingham would later serve in the Union Army during the war and campaign politically to keep Missouri from seceding before spending his post-war years continuing his art.
