Wonder Woman of the Week: Jodie Whittaker

This week's Wonder Woman is one of our superheroines who- as an actress- portrays one of the growing panoply of strong female characters in pop culture. For decades male actors portrayed the role of the reincarnating character of the Doctor, but Jodie Whittaker made history be portraying the first female incarnation of the British television character. Whittaker was no novice to entertainment however.

Jodie Whittaker entered her acting career in 2005 as a last-minute replacement for Carey Mulligan in The Storm at the Globe Theatre. Following her successful performance, Whittaker continued to perform on stage and added radio and film to her repretuare. In 2009, Whittaker appeared in her first major film, Perrier's Bounty. In 2017, Whittaker took on her most famous role as the Doctor in Doctor Who where she and the writing team for the series brought the show into a new age.
