Wonder Woman of the Week: Carson Pickett

This week's Wonder Woman is a soccer player that has moved beyond her physical handicaps to earn praise for her play in the professionals. Carson Pickett quickly learned to live her life around being born with only one hand- especially in the sport of soccer where the handicap doesn't present a very large challenge. Pickett rose through the ranks in school as a well-known defender before joining the Florida State Seminoles soccer team. While at university, Pickett helped her team achieve success on the field as the number two team in the country.

In 2016, the Seattle Reign drafted Carson Pickett who immediately started playing the defender in the 2016 season. Pickett made a name for herself as a skilled athlete in the NWSL as well as in the Australian W-League where she played for the Brisbane Roar in the US off-season. In 2018, Pickett returned to Florida following an NWSL trade that sent her to the Orlando Pride. While in Orlando, Pickett began working with children with disabilities to help inspire children to push past their handicaps to find the inspiration to succeed in their own goals- all while continuing to dominate in her on-field matches.
