Wonder Woman of the Week: Kristen Wiig

The Wonder Woman this week is one of the top comedians of her generation. Known for her success on Saturday Night Live as well as television and film, Kristen Wiig has become one of the most well-known comedy actresses of the 21st Century. Wiig began working With SNL in the early years of the 2000's before surviving budget cuts in 2005 to become a full-fledged cast member. Over the next five years, Wigg made a name for herself for her powerful comedy and began acting in small roles in several television shows and movies until breaking through in 2011 into her first major role.

The film Bridesmaids was a pivotal movies for multiple actresses- including Kristen Wiig. The movie made Wiig a household name in film comedy and opened doors for several more major Hollywood movies. Between 2012 and 2016, Wiig acted in several major movies including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Martian, and Ghostbusters. In 2017, DC Comics executives working on the Wonder Woman sequel announced Wiig would appear in the film as the lead villain Cheetah.
