Wonder Woman of the Week: Manon Brunet

Manon Brunet is a saber fencer whose helped maintain France's dominance in the history of the sport. Over the one hundred years of international fencing, Western Europe, Eastern Asia, and the United States have dominated the sport- with the majority of medals going to Russia, Italy, and France. In 2015 and 16, Brunet won silver medals in the Junior World Fencing Championships.
In 2014, before making a name for herself as an individual fencer, the young Manon helped France earn team silver medals in the European Championships and World Championships. At the Rio Olympics in 2016, Manon went on to finish fourth overall- making a name for herself in the sport's saber category.
At the 2017, Manon helped France defeat Japan in the team saber competition to earn the bronze medal for the event. In the individual event, the French fencer advanced into the round of 16 where German fencer Anna Limbach defeated her.
