Wonder Woman of the Week: Zainab Salbi

Zaibanb Salbi's mother sent her to Chicago during the height of the escalating violence in Iraq during the 1990's. While in an arranged marriagein Chicago, Salbi's husband raped her. Salbi left her husband and moved to Washington DC to attend university working odd jobs to pay for school. While in school, Salbi read an article about rape victims in war-torn Bosnia and decided she had to do something. Zainab Salbi began Women for Women International to educate women and help prevent rape and assault in war-torn nations across the globe and earned high praise for her humanitarian work.
