Wonder Woman of the Week: Tatiana Maslany

For those unfamiliar to British television, there is currently a show on air called Orhpan Black in which one actress plays about five thousand (possible over-estimate) characters who are all clones. Such an actress could not escape the clutches of this blog’s recognition for very long. Your Wonder Woman of the Week is actress Tatiana Maslany.

Tatiana Maslany was born in Regina, Canada and began performing (dancing) at just four years old. She began acting at nine with a community theater. In 2002, Maslany won first place in a national acting competition- the Canadian Improv Games. [1]

After performing in a series of small films (mostly Canadian produced), and television roles. Occasionally, Maslany appeared in films with major Hollywood stars like The Vow with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. [2]

In 2013, Tatiana Maslany took on a myriad of roles in a signle series called Orpahan Black. The sci-fi drama is about a group of clones trying to find out who made them with Maslany playing every single clone. The characters differ greatly (from a soccer mom to a serial killer) which boils down to Maslany having to be an insanely incredible actress. The show, which launched Maslany’s career, is headed into its third season and will likely continue to gain a seriously loyal audience. [3]

Since Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany has appeared in Parks and Recreation and is headed off to act in an Off-Broadway production. Her career has only just started, but Maslany will likely go on to be a major actress. For now, she is our Wonder Woman of the Week.
