Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd was a Welsh princess, known for her fierce determination and valiant role in the resistance against the Norman invasion of Wales in the 12th century. She was born around 1097, the daughter of Gruffydd ap Cynan, a ruler of Gwynedd in North Wales. Gwenllian’s marriage to the powerful Lord of Deheubarth, Prince Gruffydd ap Rhys, further solidified her significance in Welsh politics and warfare. Together, they had several children, one of whom would later become the famous ruler of Gwynedd, Rhys ap Gruffydd.
