Wonder Woman of the Week: Queen Boudica

Queen Boudicca, one of the most powerful and iconic figures of ancient British history, is remembered for her fierce resistance against the Roman Empire in the first century CE. Born into the Iceni tribe in what is now modern-day East Anglia, Boudicca was a formidable leader who rose to prominence after the Roman Empire annexed her kingdom. When her husband, King Prasutagus, died, the Romans sought to absorb the Iceni's territory and wealth. The Romans not only ignored his will, which had sought to keep his kingdom independent, but they also subjected Boudicca and her daughters to public humiliation, sparking the outrage that would lead to her legendary rebellion.
