Digital information is fragile because it lives on platforms, servers, and policies that can vanish overnight. Defunct YouTube channels, deleted archives, or government websites rewritten to match shifting political ideology can disappear with a click, leaving no trace. Books and stone endure because they are decentralized, physical, and hard to erase at scale. In the digital age, preservation matters: redundant archives, open formats, and independent stewardship protect memory, accountability, and truth from the quiet erosion of convenience and power across generations, cultures, histories, and futures.
